THE DRACONIC CHART

The concept of the Draconic chart was invented a few decades ago when an astrologer misinterpreted a statement in an ancient text about the lunar nodes and the zodiac. Proponents of Draconic astrology claim it is a secret tradition dating back to Babylon. In reality, it originates with the French-born astrologer, Dane Rudhyar, in the 1960s.

Ultimately, the Draconic calculation system is based on a Persian version of the Thema Mundi, translated into Greek in the CCAG. This version was mentioned by the astrologer Cyril Fagan, among several other astrologers in the 70s and 80s. They misinterpreted a myth, and invented a new technique.

All in all, there is a symbolic logic for this system and using the North node as a zodiacal fiduciary. 0 degrees Aries is the intersection of the ecliptic with celestial equator- a kind of North node of the orbital relationship between the Sun and Earth.

Today it is most popular to attribute "past lives" or karmic interpretations to the Draconic chart system. With a little artistic license, it's not hard to imagine crediting karmic interpretations of the nodes to Babylon, which parented both Vedic and Hellenistic traditions. However, it is ahistorical to claim this was a Babylonian technique, when it was ultimately an invention of the 60s.
