AQUARIUS MERCURY

Mercury in Aquarius is the iconoclast- and lighthouse- of the zodiac. Others are drawn to you for opinions or aid, as the ship is to the lighthouse's blazing torch.

You are a world-builder. A natural gatherer and provider of information, you are brimming with brand-new ideas all the time. And they're not just random bits of insight strung together. You create whole systems. You have the inherent talent to zoom out to see how each aspect of the whole works in concert to keep the system flowing. You can see how each change would impact the whole.

Like Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's even more brilliant brother, you are a living computer, able to synthesize seemingly disparate information to see how it all connects. You, then, have the magical ability to see the forest and the trees.

Your world-building is always based in true, high-minded ideals. You are, at core, a philosopher, but also a pragmatist. You have deeply-held beliefs about what is right and wrong, and how the world should treat people, and how people should treat each other.

But what separates you from the Jupiterian philosophers- Sagittarius and Pisces- is that you can see how and why our current system is getting it wrong, and you can even figure out how to go about fixing it. You see how big things really are. Utilitarian to the end, you know that decisions should be made based on doing the most good for the most people. And you also know that sometimes making that happen means breaking a few eggs.

Mercury here is very sharp, no doubt. It is indicative of a scientific mind that is well able to abstract and handle heirarchical logical problems with relative ease. Saturn organizes these concepts into classes with the ability to compartmentalize functions. However, Saturn will tend to focus Mercury predominantly on the negative things in life.

Today, Mercury is regarded as exalted in this sign. However, ancient astrologers did not hold this association. In a diurnal chart, the heat and dryness of the day create an intellect that is sharp and able to make fine distinctions. This individual is skeptical and prone to put any theory to scientific analysis before believing in it.

In a nocturnal chart, Mercury is in its own trigon and is therefore essentially dignified. This individual is a very good communicator and good at making relational arguments if its lord, Saturn, happens to receive it.
